I am obsessed with old furniture, I absolutely love it. I love it even more when I can re-purpose it.
My husband's mom gave us with a bedroom suit that belonged to her mother. I have been in love with it since I first laid eyes on it, kind of like her son. ;)
Well, since we had the new to us furniture we no longer needed our dressers... now these dressers belonged to my step-brother's mother, then my sister, then me... so they were probably 80's or 90's. I had already painted a shelf that I found on Craigslist and put it under the tv, but I was not at all happy with it.
See? Cute, but not what I had in mind..
So, while browsing Pinterest I kept seeing old dressers being turned into tv stands.
I decided that we could totally do this.. I'm pretty sure mine turned out better than the ones I used for inspiration.
We took the drawers out and noticed that it was pretty much cardboard between the drawers. We took the tracks out and removed the "cardboard". We headed to Home Depot to get the piece of wood for the shelf. We also bought a 2x4 to make braces, you will need something for the shelf to sit on. We knocked out the separators, installed our shelf and painted it. Again I used the Rust-oleum spray paint, just in a different color. I also painted the hardware. I love it! If you need pointers just let me know!
