I am obsessed with old furniture, I absolutely love it. I love it even more when I can re-purpose it.
My husband's mom gave us with a bedroom suit that belonged to her mother. I have been in love with it since I first laid eyes on it, kind of like her son. ;)
Well, since we had the new to us furniture we no longer needed our dressers... now these dressers belonged to my step-brother's mother, then my sister, then me... so they were probably 80's or 90's. I had already painted a shelf that I found on Craigslist and put it under the tv, but I was not at all happy with it.
See? Cute, but not what I had in mind..
So, while browsing Pinterest I kept seeing old dressers being turned into tv stands.
I decided that we could totally do this.. I'm pretty sure mine turned out better than the ones I used for inspiration.
We took the drawers out and noticed that it was pretty much cardboard between the drawers. We took the tracks out and removed the "cardboard". We headed to Home Depot to get the piece of wood for the shelf. We also bought a 2x4 to make braces, you will need something for the shelf to sit on. We knocked out the separators, installed our shelf and painted it. Again I used the Rust-oleum spray paint, just in a different color. I also painted the hardware. I love it! If you need pointers just let me know!

Table and Chairs, first project.
In October of 2013 I was passed down a dining room table and chairs.. totally not my style, BUT such good quality that I decided to make it my style.
Here is the before and after:
It was that beachy color wood, totally my aunt's style, but now it is a very bold green!
I LOVE it.
This is probably what started my obsession. We have moved since this picture and are about to move again. I will have tons of DIY projects and tutorials on here as we go along.. I figured I could try and catch up with the ones I have already done though.
For this, we very lightly sanded the table and chairs, taped up the tile part and spray painted it.. yes spray paint. We completed this 5 months ago and it still looks this good.. it even survived a move.
We used Rust-Oleum Painter's touch 2X in "Eden". No primer or anything.. it really works. :)
Ok, next project soon!

2014
So, it's 2014, crazy. Why not start with that list from the previous 2 times..
1. Be nicer. I know most of you think I am nice, but I could be nicer.. especially to the people closest to me. I'm still working on this.. not doing terrible.
2014: I think I am doing much better at this. I am a pretty nice person.
2. Be a better football fan, I didn't watch my teams enough in 2011.. I plan on changing that in 2012. It's not football season yet.
2014: Eh, it's not currently football season. Last year every game I watched they lost.. I feel like I maybe bad luck.
3. Grow my hair out.. Yes, I am aware I say this every year.. but this time I mean it.. I'm still growing it... it's rough, but I'm doing it.
2014: HAHA, ok so yes, I cut it off super short in July of 2013... but this time I am really growing my hair out.. like seriously.
4. Lose weight, the healthy way. I have tried pills, fad diets, all that.. but it always comes back. I want to lose weight the natural way.. diet and exercise.. I plan on changing my lifestyle so that I don't end up right back where I started. Ha, I have totally sucked at this one.. but as of today we are trying again.. I'll keep you updated.
2014: In 2013 I lost 30 pounds, I have put a few back on. My goal for this year is to lose 20 more.
5. Be the best mom I can to Kayleigh and Krysten. I think I am doing this one.. My goal is to be a better mom than I ever had.
2014: I'm trying, that's all I can do.
6. Have a baby. I know this is partly out of my control. We have been trying for over a year and it hasn't happened. If by the end of 2012 we still have not conceived I would like to look into fostering or adoption. This hasn't happened, but this is out of my control.. EVERYONE around me seems to be getting pregnant though. :(
2014: Still no baby, everyone else is still getting pregnant.
7. See my parents more. They are actually pretty fun people. Yikes, I haven't done this.. I am seeing them this weekend.
2014: I have completely sucked at this one.
8. Stop complaining about having to go to work. I have a job. I should appreciate that. I am actually MUCH happier at work now, I have new responsibilities, I love being busier.
2014: Eh, I don't think I complain THAT much.
9. Blog. I have thoughts go through my mind all the time.. I need to record them somewhere. This seems to work for me. Eh, I fell of the blogging wagon.
2014: OK, ok.
10. Stop letting people get to me. I can't help it. I am hyper-sensitive in certain situations. Some people get under my skin very easily. I'm praying about this. It's still an issue for me.
2014: I'm doing better. I'm definitely not perfect.
